Selected Works: Ali Ghorbani Moghaddam

“DO THESE CLASH?”

We follow our protagonist through her day at the fabric market - a place of endless inspiration for fashion designers. Patterns clash as a symphony of textures, colours, and motifs transport us to her world of textiles. We embark on a celebration of fabric, the genesis of all clothing.

“Every element of my photographs supports a visual quest. I love to experiment with layers and depth of images, mixing analog and digital techniques. There’s a sense of freedom in moving across the boundaries of reality.

My name is Ali Ghorbani Moghaddam; some people may refer to me as ALIGIM, my professional career began when I attended the Abbas Kiarostami Filmmaking Workshop. I was born in Iran and as a young child, I liked watching paintings, especially surreal ones. In high school, I studied graphic design and later moved to Cyprus to complete my bachelor’s degree in photography. I held four solo exhibitions during the course of my professional career. I relocated to Paris to work there as a creative fashion photographer.

I started this project because it contains several fabric layers that may stand in for various layers of life. I also believe that this editorial project was extremely close to my artistic style, therefore I implemented it. As a fashion and creative photographer for the project, I have a specific vision, to use luxury brands and that was my target market. All teams must have the potential to become professionals or the desire to advance. I used a variety of cameras for this project, including digital, medium-format, and analog. My concern was to have fun while working and to have each subject’s perception of space and mood changed by using a different camera model, utilising layers and various media in projects and comprehending how to do so. Every door that opens in the story reveals a new story, and I enjoy moving forward with the story while remaining in a position that you may never be able to fully understand. I am drawn to the beauty that piques my interest. You’ll feel much better after you find it.”
