About the Magazine
DÉPAYSANTS is an arts & culture magazine founded at The American University of Paris. We give creatives individuals from AUP and in Paris a platform to share their work and develop professional portfolios. Our goal is to become a point of intersection for all forms of visual arts, a space without discrimination. We support everything from traditional fine art to contemporary creative forms. Our magazine is an interdisciplinary representation of the innovation and individuality found within Paris.

Growing up in Hialeah, Florida, I was raised to love and appreciate the diversity of Latino culture. With an Italian father, I had the privilege to be exposed to European forms of art which sparked an awareness towards art history. This was contrasted by spending summers in Guatemala with my mother's family where there is a different, unconventional understanding of what art is. With time I slowly began learning about art which fueled my curiosity and passion, eventually leading me to pursue a major in Art History and a minor in History at the American University of Paris. I joined DÉPAYSANTS not only as a learning opportunity for myself but to give exposure to the diverse university community while simultaneously trying to fulfill my personal mission to make art accessible to all.

I discovered my interest in art history during my childhood summers visiting family in Italy. This and my background in classical music led me to pursue an Art History degree in Paris. Beyond expanding my knowledge of modern and contemporary arts, I’ve also interned at a small atelier during Fashion Week and performed as a musician. I’m joining DEPEYSANTS to give our talented and diverse community a platform to do the same.

I’m a Philosophy major with a minor in Creative Writing. I’m from Germany but lived in New York from 2006 to 2017. Being around so many fellow students who have similar stories at AUP has made me feel at home in a city I did not previously know. My passions are drawing, printmaking, and writing and I am currently working on a book. This year has shown us just how important the arts are, as they have been the light connecting us all through the challenging year. I am excited for the opportunity to work alongside a team to seek out and showcase the work of artists in our school.

Based between New York City and Paris, I am a senior finishing my undergraduate degree in Global Communications with a minor in Fashion Studies. I am a creative focused on fashion, editorial makeup, photography, and film, along with an interest in writing and content creation for both digital and print medias. I joined Les Depaysants to explore all the unique and diverse aesthetics at the university, and channel that into a publication that celebrates just that.
