Now Available: Issue 1
This semester, Les Dépaysants is proud to present Issue 1 of our magazine. Last semester, Maddie Czarnik and I decided to release a teaser issue to show the AUP community what we had in store for our magazine aswe continued to recruit new artists for submissions. We’ve now culminated the entirety of our work over the past year into this issue. With seventy pages of diverse, beautiful content for our audience to explore, we hope this issue sets the bar for the magazine moving forward.
Spring was filled with a variety of new events and occurences, including the unveiling of the new Quai d’Orsay building, months of continued political protests led by the French, and the tragic fire at Notre-Dame de Paris. The energy in Paris right now is active and dynamic in a city that is ever sochanging in the face of a new modern France, Europe, and the world. Parisserves as the backdrop for creation for those of us at AUP, and in this issue itis apparent that the city affects all of us in our own unique ways. Through ourown personal artistic expression are we able to capitalize on this new wave of energy and transform it into our own voice.
There are a total of seven artists exhibited in this semester’s issue, featuring a variety of media including digital and film photography, photomontage, and ink drawing to name a few. We hope that you will enjoy this issue as much as we did working on it, and perhaps be inspired to submityour own art in the future. We are always looking for new artists to provide a platform for. If this first issue of Les Dépaysants Magazine is any indication, it is apparent that AUP’s artistic future is bright.
