DÉPAYSANTS Magazine

First Teaser Issue out now!

Several months ago, Les Dépaysants was conceived by two creatives armed with a baguette and ambition on the banks of the Seine. What started out as a small list of potential names for the title and a flurry of photoshoot ideas has now evolved into a visual-first student-run publication. We wanted our magazine to stand at the center of the arts scene at AUP, highlighting the talent and artistry of our student body through the lens of arts, fashion, and culture.

Les Dépaysants is meant to diversify the current journalistic voice that AUP has to offer by focusing solely on the visual arts and thus bridging the gap for students looking for an outlet for their self-expression. In a sense,
the pages of our magazine are metaphorical gallery walls, a blank canvas
to make your own. We are strongly committed to providing a platform
where every student artist feels like their voice can be heard without fear of conforming to a mold. Similar to the French avant-garde, our publication seeks to displace our readers through the visual stimulation presented by young and developing artists in Paris.

Starting a new publication from scratch takes a long time, and we’d
like to ensure that every issue, project, video, and art piece we put out is polished to our standards. Instead of pushing out an issue with the limited time we had, we wanted to take our time to spread the word about our magazine, curate content, and recruit new contributors. This semester we are pleased to present our very first teaser issue, which gives you an insight into our team and our individualistic styles. However, Les Dépaysants is open to all, and new submissions and team members are always welcome.

Our hope is that every reader who picks up a copy of our magazine learns how to find comfort at the bleeding edge of tomorrow by confronting the artists of today. On behalf of everyone at Les Dépaysants, we sincerely thank you for your interest and we hope you enjoy our Fall 2018 teaser issue.
